FAQ
1) Why should I choose the TP13 connector?
You should choose this connector if your application requires a high level of water tightness. Its ingress protection (IP) rating of IP68 is one of the highest in the market, guaranteeing protection from water immersion up to 1 meter in depth and resistance to accidental disconnection. The 13-pin system also offers advantages such as more safety, compatibility with other systems, and extensive applicability.
2) What materials have been used to make the TP13 connector?
INTE-AUTO has used Nylon 66 to make the shell material, brass material for the hardware material, organic silica gel for the sealing gasket, and sturdy PVC-made O-type waterproof rings to ensure the reliability of the TP-13 connector. These materials collectively ensure that the electrical connection performs optimally and stays secure.
3) How do I know if the TP13 is a suitable connector for my project?
You will know this depending on your application’s needs. To help you make this decision, consider the following questions and relate them to the features of the product series outlined on this page.
- a) Am I transmitting power or data signals? For power signals, you would need to consider the corresponding currents, voltages, and frequencies.
- b) What are my operating conditions? Do I need connectors that can withstand harsh operating conditions?
- c) What is the size of my operation? Do I need small or large connectors?
- d) What are the standards in my industry of operation? Does this connector meet them?
- e) Does my application require frequent mating and unmating? Connectors with between 5000 and 10000 mating cycles, such as the TP13, are recommended for applications that require numerous mating and unmating.
- f) Does my application need a long-lasting connector? Brass-made connectors such as the TP13 tend to last longer.
4) How do I decide the appropriate contact configuration for my application?
This product series features solder cup contacts, which are preloaded with the sockets and pins to establish the connection. The solder cups simplify the configuration process, as one only has to think about the wire size, which should be compatible with the connector and application’s amperage and voltage, delivery options, and contact plating.
5) What wire gauge is recommended for use with this connector?
The wire gauge depends on your application and the amount of current it needs. Suitable wire gauges typically range from 18 to 22 AWG. The lower range represents a larger diameter and less electrical resistance, which means enhanced power quality and load-carrying capacity. If you are unsure about your application’s needs, reach out to our sales team for more clarification.
6) What are the other electrical requirements for the TP-13 connector?
This depends on your application, whether in manufacturing, outdoor lighting systems, agriculture, medical, oil and gas, automotive wiring, or marine technology. The maximum voltage for the connector is 250 V and an amperage of 3A. Ensure you check for compatibility before purchase.
7) How many TP13 connectors do I need on average?
Again, this depends on your application. Find out the number of connections to various points and devices your application needs, then get extra connectors than needed in case of redundancies or expansion.
8) What methods of sterilization does this connector support?
Since the TP13 series can withstand harsh environments, it supports most sterilization methods, including steam autoclave and chemical sterilization. However, special care should be taken when it comes to radiation sterilization, where a protective cap is recommended. Our protective caps are available for different connectors, including the TP13.
9) Is this product suitable for my country?
Please note that the waterproof connectors sold by INTE-AUTO are suitable for use in different regions of Asia. They have a high ingress protection (IP) rating of IP68. It allows them to withstand various environmental conditions and ensure optimal performance. Still, it is essential to note that the voltage and electrical outlets in other regions besides Asia may differ. We advise you to contact our sales team here for more personalized advice for your area.
